Effects of Hybrid PVA–Steel Fibers on the Mechanical Performance of High-Ductility Cementitious Composites

Producing high-ductility cementitious composites (HDCC) increased in parallel with concrete demand China recently. However, the high cost of manufacturing persists. To reduce HDCC, steel fibers, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and river sand were used to produce HDCC present study. A total fiber content 2% was formed five different proportions PVA fiber. Within scope experimental studies, mechanical (workability, compressive strength, tensile, bending properties), microstructural (scanning electron microscopy) tests carried out investigate properties hybrid fiber-reinforced composites. The results showed that fluidity increasing substitution. strength mixture containing 0.5% 1.5% exhibited a better 31.3 MPa. tensile performance improved due incorporation initial cracking about 2.32 MPa, 25.4% higher than reference group, ultimate 3.36–3.56 reducing impacts flexural rigidity matrix.
